November at the Jersey Shore can produce big striper blitzes. From Late October-December striped bass migrate down the Eastern Seaboard. Massive schools of peanut bunker, adult bunker, mullet, spearing and sand eels are around. Join us for an un-guided day of beach fishing.
We will be fishing the falling tide and if the wind behaves we will fish the ocean side, which also means that having a solid double haul is essential. Bring your 7-, 8-, or 9-wt single hand or and a sealed reel loaded with intermediate line, and 16 or 20 1b tippet. If you have another reel with sinking line it is not a bad idea to have it in your arsenal. A stripping basket, waders, rain jacket, head lamp, hat, polarized glasses, and warm clothing will round out your kit.
Anglers will meet near Sandy Hook, NJ. Be prepared to walk over the Sandy Hook Bridge (approx. 12 min).
Recommended flies consist of clousers and deceivers, chartreuse is a popular color. Bring water, a packable lunch and snacks in your backpack. After fishing, anglers will choose to eat at a local restaurant or simply head home.
