The Julianas will zip our jackets and put on our warm hats as we head north to the tributaries of Lake Ontario in search of the legendary Steelhead and large Brown Trout. We will enjoy two days of guided fishing at Oak Orchard and Sandy Creeks on Friday (12/13) and Saturday (12/14). Our lead guide, Aaron Deruyter, has been guiding this area of Lake Ontario tributaries for the last 10 years. He specializes in streamer fishing and sarcasm, with a focus on wild and native fish in the glacial cut gullies as well as lake run species.
This trip is for four experienced anglers willing to brave the December cold and reap the rewards of huge fish afforded the worthy. So pack your warmest long johns, wool socks, and puffer jackets for a weekend in search of monsters on the fly!
We will begin our adventure on Thursday, December 12, 2024. Our lodging in Brockport, NY is approximately 6 hours from Manhattan. Carpooling is encouraged. We will arrive for a cozy evening where a warm, home-cooked meal will be waiting. Afterwards, we will sit together, review the weekend plans, and lie to each other about our fishing successes. We will have a hardy breakfast Friday and Saturday mornings to brace us for the cold water before gearing up and heading out to meet our guides. We will brown bag lunch both days. Hot coffee and tea will be available stream side. After great days on the river, we will head back to our weekend base for warm, home-cooked dinners. Our last evening will be spent reveling in the last two days of fantastic fishing. We will have a quick breakfast on Sunday morning before saying our goodbyes.
