Join us for a day of fishing for Brown Trout on Wappinger’s Creek in Millbrook, NY. We will have private access to the curated section of the creek on the grounds of Orvis Sandanona. We will gather at 9am at the lodge and meet our guides. There are pools and runs along the creek creating perfect habitat for brown trout. The wading is about as easy as it gets and there are clear paths along the river.
We will have two guides in the morning so that we can take full advantage of this opportunity. The guides have two separate tasks. One of the guides will be helping out our anglers along the river, while the second guide will be conducting a Czech Nymphing Clinic. Czech Nymphing is a technique using a tight line and a nymph or streamer to target a specific area on a river. It’s effective, exciting and very dynamic. Equipment will be available for anyone interested in learning this method of nymphing.
At the end of the morning session we’ll give the river a rest and break for lunch before returning in the afternoon to fish on our own. We will have picnic tables and a grill stream side so that we can enjoy a picnic lunch before heading back to the creek in the afternoon. We will have full access to the lodge for bathroom breaks and coffee. This trip is suitable for anglers of all abilities.
Anglers will need a NYS freshwater fishing license, waders with wading belt, a wading staff and wading boots. The creek is small, so a 4 wt rod is perfect. Czech nymphing rods are also an excellent choice. Feel free to bring both!
Cost: $95.00 per angler. The cost covers guides, tips, and stream side lunch.
