Striped Bass Conversation with NYSDEC Expert Caitlin Craig!

Avid saltwater angler? Saltwater angling curious? There’s a battle going right now to decrease the mortality of our favorite east coast salt water fish, the Striped Bass!

Join us for a Zoom presentation by NYSDEC expert, Caitlin Craig. Caitlin, a true striped bass conservation expert, has graciously offered to lead us in a discussion on the current state of our striped bass fisheries and the regulations being discussed and negotiated to preserve the future of our favorite local saltwater fish.

Caitlin joined the DEC in 2012 as an intern and is now the marine biologist in the Diadromous Fish Unit at the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Division of Marine Resources (DMR) headquarters, located in Kings Park, NY. She serves as DMR’s Regulatory Coordinator, helping to finalize and adopt mandatory and discretionary regulations that the agency pursues to protect marine resources. Outside of the water, Caitilin crochets, plays soccer, volleyball, kickball and enjoys beach walks with her basset hound, Floyd. She has a B.A. in Biology with Specialization in Marine Science from Boston University and an M.A. in Marine Conservation and Policy from Stony Brook University.
